Photos: The Oldest Operating Mail Boat in America is in New Hampshire

Social media research for inspiring American photographers has led me in circles, but most of the circles (and those I’m drawn to) revolve around the Pacific North West. The dark greens and blues of this part of our country are emotional and captivating… but I live in New Hampshire, literally the complete other side of the country. I set out this past weekend on a mission to not compare New England (specifically New Hampshire) to its parallel states, but merely to demonstrate the beauty that exists in our region.

The Sophie C. is the oldest floating post office in America and it just so happens to float upon Lake Winnipesaukee in the Lakes Region of New Hamsphire. Each season she provides mail service on Lake Winnipesaukee, a tradition dating back to 1892.
