40 Contemplations for Lent — Day 7: Dating Apps

For Lent this year, I’m giving up hiding myself from… well, myself! I’m having dialogues with my inner children about each topic from this link. Yesterday there was a conversation about biting nails.

Cori: Dating apps. Oh my. I haven’t had luck using dating apps in general. I’m in an open relationship with my partner, not looking anyway. I’m concentrating on school, my spiritual life, and when there’s time, the body part of the mind body spirit connection.

fFinne: Cori, that can be a potential part of dating apps. *gyrates his pelvis* The body connection. *chuckles as Cori gasps* What???

Cori: I meant exercise, fFinne. Exercise!!! Like stretching! Ugh.

fFinne: So did I! *laughs* I haven’t had any trouble on the apps. *counts on his fingers* Scruff, Grindr, Adam4Adam, Growlr, … *trails off*

Cori: Well, show-off, I keep finding people I already know, people who are already my friends! I love my friends, but not in a romantic or sexual way. Wait, you’re not an Inner Child. You’re an Inner Adult. How old are you anyway?

fFinne: *calculates in the air, counts on his fingers again* I’m 23.

Cori: Twenty three. I remember 23. I was already married.

fFinne: Look how that turned out. *ducks*

Cori: *laughs* Touche. Do you think we’re looking for the same things on dating apps?

fFinne: *shrugs* I mostly like to go out dancing, and to chill with my friends. I’m not really looking to settle down.
