One little word that changes everything. From the way we see things to the way we hear things. It can cause a paradigm shift that could change your life, or destroy it, depending on how you comprehend it. Looking through other people’s perspectives allows you to learn things you may have never learned. It allows you to break out of your box and your straightforward thinking methods to grow as an individual.

Perspective has been a powerful tool for me throughout my life. Alongside empathy, it has allowed me to understand why people act the way they do, how they perceive the world compared to my own perceptions, and where there perceptions are coming from through their past experiences. But with every powerful tool, it is a double-edged sword.

Comprehending other people’s perspectives could be one of the most challenging things I have done. Values, beliefs, and culture will constantly clash as you look through different perspectives, shaping you into who you are. From my experience, the world has a way of breaking you as you learn the hard way to be accepting and tolerant. Some do not respect the fact that there are different values, beliefs, and cultures, closing themselves off, afraid of discovering new ways of thinking. I disagree with this approach immensely.
