I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with this insight — and it’s something that’s been hanging over me for a while now. Wrapped up in it is a whole bunch of other problems — I’m not truly passionate about the product, I don’t actually understand the target customers, I have no idea how to reach them, and as a result the product doesn’t speak to them.
I do occasionally have an interaction with someone that completely brightens my day though. Something like “thank you for making this thing that I was stressed out about so easy to do”. So on the flip side there are people like my wife and I that just want this thing to exist and are thrilled to find it, and I’m still hoping maybe I can reach and help those people.
