War on Drugs

  1. Visually, this is showing how that the “War on Drugs” is directed not at everyone, but more at the minority population, and since the beginning of it, it has grown worse and worse because judges are being forced to send individuals who are committing petty crimes are being giving life sentences, rather than giving them a reasonable sentence.
  2. Audibly its’ giving off a sense that our government isn’t really trying to fix the problem, as the story progresses, and more minorities are being shown, the sounds off police sirens are becoming more apparent, and jail cells along with orange jumpsuits are more prevalent, while the white individuals are being shown doing the exact same thing, while standing in a business suit.
  3. I believe that this impacts the message by showing that theres more going on underneath the system than we either care to realize, or care to do anything about it. The “War on Drugs” has been happening for ages, but instead of things getting better, our incarceration rates for minor drug possessions are at an all time high, and there are still individuals that are having to deal with that for something that happened decades prior; However, if the thought process on certain types of narcotics is changed, even just a little bit, then something may start to happen, but we have to have a new enlightened way of thinking for that to begin.
