Ms. Nina S.,

Thank you for reading my response and thank you for re-reading the article.

However, I would still suggest that you consider reviewing the content once more. This is kind of reminding me how our so-called leader thinks that it’s in the best interest of the Country to ask other countries to investigate his political opponents because that way he just stays in power and continues to take bribes on the side.

I want to also let you know that I’m very proud of your use of bold and italicized text in your writing. I’m still trying to figure out the Medium functionality and seem to not have caught on to it all quite yet. (But that’s a side-lined discussion).

Lastly, I do lean liberal, but I don’t think of myself as pretentious and I don’t think that my liberal views skew my entire personality. But if you want to castigate me into the “People like you are the reason I can’t stand liberals” tribe, suite yourself. I’ll put that on a pen and attach it to my jacket right next to my “MATH” lapel (in support of Andrew Yang’s “Make America Think Harder” slogan — and also because I tutor math to high-school and college kids after my day job).

The reason I think you did not read the content of the article is that there is a section that describes making an elevator pitch without the spokesperson — just with information about the product/service and providing data to support a given valuation and investment request. This exactly does what I believe you are suggesting — it creates a non-biased framework for selecting the hierarchy of investment opportunities for the potential buyers.

This means that obviously if the product/service idea sucks, yes indeed, it will rise to the appropriate spot with investors, that is, in the lower tier.

I would lastly like to ask that you re-read your last paragraphs in your last rebuttal which appear quite hypocritical, as written:

“I do not think that making fun of someone's accent or completely disregarding them because they are black or a woman.”

and next you wrote the following:

“I am against women or people of color who feel they should get ahead because they were not well represented before.”

I want to add something to this last statement, in particular. Are you aware of the American genocide that occurred when our president thinks this country was “Great.” There was this event in our history that was known as slavery. Where people were treated like animals or worse. Even, in post-slavery times, black community members were still treated as less than, even to the point of being lynched for very small crimes.

There is one of these incidents that I can never get out of my head. At some time, I believe, in the 1960’s, somewhere in the South, I forget if this was Alabama or Mississippi or otherwise in that general vicinity, a lady was walking home from work. Some white kids were “playing” on the other side of the street and started throwing rocks at her. She told them to stop doing this and that this was wrong. They ran home to their parents and those parents felt it was appropriate to gather a group of white men (maybe or maybe not Klansmen), and gather this lady up from her home, tie her up and lynch her. This is because she, and I’m paraphrasing here, but something to the effect of, “she should have known not to disrespect white children in public.”

The image of that incident never leaves my mind. I am from the South. I grew up in North Carolina. I have ties to evil white men and women and I acknowledge this as it is something that I cannot change. My grandparents in Virginia used to say that we were related to Mr. John C. Calhoun, and we have relatives with photos of them in the rebel army. I am not proud of any of that history. It is honestly very disgraceful for me.

But let’s say the tables were turned on you. Let’s just say for a second that you could not see police nearby and get a slight twinge inside for fear of a misunderstanding simply because of your skin tone. Let’s say that a police person saw you in your own house at night, and that they somehow got confused and thought for a second that it was their own house or that they were called to a scene without a full report and thought that you playing a videogame with your nephew in the living room was cause enough to extinguish your life. Because, maybe, just maybe, you were somehow “up to no good.” Well, these later references are actually current events. And these biases and prejudices are real and I take offense to people who are blind to them. 40 acres and a mule were promised and never delivered to a certain community. Instead, they still receive bias daily and remain fearful of government authorities for simple survival. This is something that you do not have to spend a single day of your life worrying about.

Do you believe that this is not a state of injustice?

To say that there is no racism in today’s society is to have a complete blind eye to the obvious social injustices that still exist.

Do you think that it is ok to put children in cages as well?

Do you think there is anything decent about that policy?

So what if they are leaving civil wars that they do not want to participate in.

So what if they cannot stand up to those criminals that are in charge of the lands that they are coming from.

Who cares right? This is our land. This is not your land. From California to the New York Island. From the Redwood Forest, to the gulf stream waters. This land was made for me and not for you. Is that the revisionist history you really want to follow?

Well, I look forward to your second response!

FYI, I chose my “pretentious” title as an allude to a Sonic Youth song that I liked from when I was in high school in the 1990’s called “Kool Thing” and alliterated it with my screen name which is a truncated version of my real name.
