The Country House Co. is home to the finest teas in the world. Through long-standing relationships with some of the oldest and most reputed tea estates in the world, we are able to offer teas to customers previously never sold outside the world of 5-star luxury hotel groups.

We started out as a small cafe in the heart of bustling Calcutta — the home of tea in India and quite possibly, the world given the number of tea companies headquartered in the city. With a penchant for picking fine teas to serve customers, our founder Vikas noticed that his customers always asked to buy his teas so they could brew them at home. From there, an idea was born.

Vikas knew that most top Darjeeling tea estate owners sell their wares to the highest bidder which usually meant 5-star hotels around the world. In some cases, the tea estates teas were so sought after, their entire crop was pre-sold well in advance of even the plucking! He knew that using his deep and decades long relationships in the tea industry, he could get small batches of the finest leaves from the estates to put together a brand — just like he did for his cafe. And thus, The Country House Co. was formed — an endeavour to bring the finest teas, reserved for the tea experts at prized tea tasting rooms across fancy hotels around the world, to customers — directly––online and without the 1000% markup of a luxury hotel. How do you know you’re getting the best teas, unmatched in value? Read on.

1. Our teas are purchased directly from estates and hand-crafted by our master blenders who have over 100 years of combined experience in the industry.
2. We do not own a tea estate or tea garden. You’d think that’s a bad thing — but this ensures we’re sourcing the best — not just claiming what we grow is the best. We get to cherry pick the best white teas, green teas, oolong teas, black teas, etc. based on the crop and leaf quality of each estate every year. This ensures our customers aren’t just buying retail prices for the “finest” teas as claimed by every tea estate out there.
3. No supply chain –– ever hear long-winded stories of brands “shortening” the supply chain? We started this business without one and only added in the essential parts (quality checks, tasting, blending, packaging and shipping).
4. Curated and consistent collection –– you’ll never see us selling Chinese Pu’erh or some tea we know nothing about. We’ve limited our collection to between 20–30 teas and done the figuring out for you (unlike some companies that list 500 teas on their website but only really have 50 in stock).
