There’s actually very logical reasoning behind the electoral voting structure. It was put in place a long time ago to normalize the voting power across states. Without it, you’d have a few big states controlling the election, and removing any voice from small states… which unintentionally inches our country closer to an all powerful federal-run system instead of the preferred state-run system. Normalizing the voting power like this is mathematically sound as well. It’s common with surveying and analytics systems, in voting systems, and a host of other systems where extremely low numbers or extremely high numbers are normalized. We can chat about it sometime if you want. It’s fascinating how it solves the problem it addresses. It’s easy to miss though. :)
