Hello people. I guess I have something in common with the recently crowned Best Picture. Between dealing with my car, subsequently trying to get a rental [see my last post: Frustrated], remembering that it’s tax season, ON TOP of Uber’s pay [see pLayoffs], and — oh yeah — ADULTING (aka maintaining fitness/nourishment, staying on top of finances, etc), I’ve admittedly kind of been all over the place. But do I (do any of us, really?) have a choice? The road of entrepreneurship to early retirement is an arduous one. Ahhh, the cost and reality of the journey. Speaking of which, since I haven’t received much feedback, I think I’ll stick with the current namesake of this blog. Let’s take a little joyride (guess I’m sticking with the driving theme — rather appropriate, considering my occupation, eh?) as I simultaneously delve into current events and personal happenings of this past week, shall we?

First, the Oscars. While I didn’t catch the entire show — between a late gym session and the aforementioned adulting (here in the form of meal prep) — I thought it was a rather good one, despite what my uncle thinks😉😄. Didn’t see Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue, but I know he referenced a certain unscripted on-air occurrence last year. There were tears. There were some laughs. Some great speeches. Jamie Lee Curtis won her first Oscar, much to the chagrin of some Angela Bassett fans (I personally have to see “Everywhere All At Once” to pass judgment). Despite this, minorities were represented (shout out to Ke Huy Quan, whose reaction I thought was touching). Hey, at least no one was slapped. 🤷‍♂️😁

By the way, the reason for the late gym session? Springing forward! Were any of you rocked (haha — no pun intended, I promise) by the start of Daylight Savings Time? I woke up late — resulting in missing church (God knows my heart)- had breakfast and then a mid/late-afternoon nap. Those two hours pushed my workout later, which in turn caused me to miss the beginning of the 95th ceremony. (Funny how our bodies work, huh? Regardless of a time change, our internal clocks still essentially wake up at the same time).

The beginning of the week saw me finally getting my car to the shop… as I had to wait for the place to get the transmission. So, Tuesday, I took a trip about 40 minutes away, with someone following to bring me back home. Along the way, we got separated, and rather than retracking to get to me, they got frustrated and went home. This particular person (who shall remain nameless, because I do care about them deeply and want to protect them from any potential online backlash) isn’t good with directions. In case you’re wondering, their GPS isn’t working. Yeah, needless to say, I wasn’t happy. I ended up getting an Empower [don’t want to bore you guys with it, but in case this is your first time here, it’s a Lyft/Uber alternative; check here if you want to ride with them or here if you want to drive]. Cost me $42. Good thing is, they’re going to reimburse me.

So, the bad news is that I was without my car for three days. The good news? I got it back Friday, in time for St. Patrick’s Day weekend! As I’m finishing up this post, I made nice chunk of change… gonna need it since I’m $1650 in the hole from an unexpected car repair. In the midst of this, I did get to have my smash session (mentioned at the conclusion of my last post). It was rather needed. I can honestly say I felt better afterwards. Always good to get out some aggression and stress. If you’re in the DC area — particularly around Clinton, MD — check out Smash Mobile House.

Also this week, Silicon Valley Bank crashed. Now, I’m not too familiar with this bank, or even the fact that it existed, but — per my first post, where I touched on the economy — should we be worried? Is this a sign of things to come? Does the fall of a maybe not-so-well-known bank have ramifications in other aspects of our economy (namely our personal money)? I’m not a financial expert, but I do stay on top of my money and wonder if this is something that we should pay attention to.

Well, that about wraps it up for this edition, folks. Hopefully it’s all up from here. (Considering how life works, probably not). Gotta get to the gym and back on the road to continue the grind. Until next time✌️.
