Employee Spotlight: Kamron Taylor

Meet Kamron Taylor, Partnership Program Manager for Fans 1st Media, a Cox Media Group Brand

Tell me a little bit about your background and what led you to your current job.

As a St. Louis native, I grew up watching FOX 2 Now/KTVI. My freshman and sophomore summers were spent shadowing reporters there, sitting on the web desk and getting a feel for the fast-paced news environment. These experiences left me eager to start a career tied to media and news. While a sophomore at Spelman College, I set a goal to join WSB-TV’s competitive fall internship program. This was my introduction into the CMG family. I learned from veterans like Erin Coleman, Fred Blankenship, and Craig Lucie — all of whom became faces that made my internship worthwhile. WSB prepared me for future internship and freelance moves with CNN, where I worked for the Affiliate Content Center and Wire Services divisions my junior and senior years at Spelman.

After graduation, I returned to the Cox family as part of CMG’s Digital Talent Program, which sends recent grads all over the country to work on CMG’s digital projects. My assignment was with Dayton.com, a startup run by CMG Ohio. I worked as a Multimedia Reporter, covering “what to know, what to do and what to love,” about Dayton, Ohio. Inspired by the startup world, I applied for (and got!) a job with Rare.us — America’s Newsfeed — as the Newsletter and Social Media Editor. I managed more than ten newsletter campaigns for Rare spanning news, entertainment and politics topics. After a year in that role, I landed my current position with Fans 1st/Cox Media Group’s Audience Team as the Partnership Program Manager. I’m building F1M’s partnership and social influencer strategies, cultivating relationships that align with F1M’s ongoing media initiatives and campaigns, all to grow and diversify our traffic and audience.

“If it had not been for career development initiatives, it would have been much harder to find mentors and get hands on training from media experts early on in my career.”

What do you enjoy most about your job? How do you spend your time not at work?

I love the relationships I get to build with external partners and influencers. My position allows me to meet someone new every day. When I am not working, I’m enjoying life in D.C. and working in my community as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

How has Cox supported you in your career growth?

Cox is the reason my career got started. If it had not been for career development initiatives like The Digital Talent Program, it would have been much harder to find mentors and get hands on training from media experts early on in my career.
