In this Employee Spotlight, meet Sal Abatemarco, National Sales Manager for Cox Media Group.
Hi Sal! Tell us about your background.
Growing up, I have always been a huge sports fan and I played baseball in college — that’s where my competitive drive comes which has helped me in my career.
I have 20 years of experience working in radio and contributed those years to the New York and Long Island markets. For 12 years I served in local sales for CMG Long Island and shortly following I worked for ESPN Radio in New York and received the 2012 Circle of Excellence award. In 2015, I returned to the Long Island market to continue my career in local sales and an open position for National Sales Manager was available. I felt confident that my prior experience prepared me for success in this role and I have a blast representing both 102.3 WBAB and 106.1 BLI.
That’s awesome! Outside of work, how do you like to spend your free time?
Outside of work I enjoy my family and travel as much as I can with my fiancée. In my spare time, I also love traveling and am game for any place with warm weather, great beaches and ice-cold drinks.
Yeah, we hear you. That sounds pretty good to us, too. Thinking about your career, how has Cox supported you in your journey?
My general manager has been a huge supporter and influencer in my career at CMG. His support and confidence in me have inspired me to be my best. I am a big believer in paying it forward and do enjoy taking an active role in mentoring, training and witnessing the growth of new employees.
