Lentil Soup (Rasam)

Rasam — Indian soup warms the body and is excellent when it has bouts of cold, chill and cough.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup lentil cooked water
  • 2 tbsp chopped onion
  • 1 dry chili
  • 5 nos garlic
  • 1 tsp peppercorns
  • 1.5 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt as required
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • 1 cup tamarind water
  • coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. To make rasam powder: In a mixer, take cumin seeds, coriander seeds, peppercorns. Make it as powder, then add garlic and make it as cursed powder.
  2. Make the dal water ready. To make lentil water, check here.
  3. Make tamarind water ready. Check it out here to make it.
  4. In a pan add oil, seasoning, onion, and chili. saute it.
  5. Add lentil water, tamarind water, rasam powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, and salt all together.
  6. Add coriander leaves. Don’t make the rasam to boil. Once it starts to boil, switch off the flame and serve with rice and chips.

In lentil, water adds tomato and mash it. keep aside
Add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, peppercorn and grind it.
Once grind add garlic and grind it. In a pan add oil, onion, and chili. Saute it
Add lentil water, turmeric powder, salt, and turmeric water.
Add rasam powder and make it boil. Add coriander leaves and serve with rice.
