Wonder Lab: Thesis
Invisible social, cultural, or knowledge barriers keep us from exploring territories that we perceive as uncomfortable and prevents a dialog of perspectives. As a result, we have become a society fractured by our individual views and who’s collective capacity is capped by the limited depth of the experiences we can access within our own comfort zones. Design works to encourage people to cross these boundaries by creating access points into foreign experiences. It helps draw out a shared and relatable commonality (or creates it), and sets a space for us to feel safe. In order to do that, Design merges together a deep understanding of the people and environments involved and responds with an opportunity for interaction that lives within a context created to balance the safety of familarity with the beauty of exploration.
