How to Learn the Lingo of _______.

So I am not going to write a Marketing glossary because Unbounce already has one! So if you wanted such a glossary, go check it out!

But better than a glossary is my advice for you. I have learned the lingo of both Confessional Lutheran Nerds and Classicist Professors. I have learned three languages, 2/3 of them dead. And I will be shocked if I’m not throwing around marketing lingo like a pro before Summer 2017. So here is my tip to you: Git gud at sucking!

Linguists usually think of it as immersion, but that’s just a fancy term for sucking until you don’t.

Anyone who has watched Muzzy knows the value of immersion. You watch the story of Muzzy in English first and then in Spanish to learn the language. I only had the Spanish tapes growing up, but that didn’t lessen their value for me. I picked up context clues and figured out what Muzzy was saying; and I learned some Spanish as a result.

Immersion is the fastest and easiest way to learn any language or any lingo because you constantly are exposed to these foreign sounds. Language acquisition is like bread toasting in an oven; it doesn’t gradually go from white to brown, but seems to turn brown all at once. That is often how our brains work. So the more new words or terms we can consistently encounter, the better.

So don’t be scared by all the buzzwords you hear. Embrace your ignorance, embrace your suck, and you’ll be awesome shortly.
