Upon installation, IDM automatically generates default download folders such as Compressed, Documents, Music, Programs, and Video. Let’s proceed to change the folder path or location in Internet Download Manager.

Change Download Folder Location in IDM: In the following steps, I’ll demonstrate how to change the default folder for the General category in IDM. You can apply the same steps for other categories like Video, Music, Compressed, etc.

1. Open your IDM or Internet Download Manager.
2. Click on “Options” in the top menu.
3. Look for the tab named “Save to” and click on it.
4. Now, select the category of the downloaded file type. By default, it is set to General, so let’s change the General Category path for demonstration.
5. Click on the “Browse” button in the “Default download directory for General” category section.
6. Choose the folder where you want to save the downloads of these file types in IDM.
7. Done!

That’s how you change the default download folder location in IDM.
