Mental health has taken leaps and strides in the public sphere in the past few years. Public awareness is at an all-time high, and treatment options are growing with each passing day. As a person with a chronic illness who has spent the last two years in and out of the hospital for my physical health, I never considered what it was doing to me mentally. I have been very depressed for the past year as I’ve had to watch opportunities pass me by because of surgical complications that date back to August of 2017. One step forward always ended…

Casting on mainstage at LAN ETS 2019

I never really considered casting as something I’d enjoy, until one night a colleague who is now my long time casting partner asked if I’d help him out. I suppose this is a good example of never knocking things until you try them, as I enjoyed it so much that I’ve spent a good amount of time in the past few years trying to improve my craft. As I improved I was given opportunities to cast at several LAN tournaments and gain insight into the production side of esports. …

Here are a variety of writing samples of my work, ranging from event coverage and recaps to analytical op-ed pieces.

Collegiate Esports Network

Recently, I’ve begun working with CESN as a CSGO insider. Using the connections I’ve made over the past three years in Collegiate Counter-Strike, I am able to provide insight and relevant knowledge about the stories behind players and teams competing in AVGL, CSL, and other tournaments.

Collegiate Star League

Working at Collegiate Star League has shown me what it means to be a part of a driven and passionate work family in esports. The values and lessons I’ve learned have been essential in…

I’d first like to take a second to thank everyone for their feedback and support on my first two editions of these power rankings this season. I’ve gained some valuable information and had a lot of great discussions with interested individuals and am looking forward to that continuing as long as I can keep pumping these out. I have decided to stick with the bi-weekly publication schedule as I feel it allows me to maximize the amount of articles I can put out whilst still allowing for changes and trends to develop within the league. …

Things are heating up in Mountain Dew League after another two weeks of competition. Teams have now had the chance to showcase their skill on two more commonly played maps: Mirage and Cobblestone. Admittedly, I was not clear enough in my last edition that the five teams I chose to write about do not represent a top-to-bottom ranking list; but rather, that these power rankings are meant to examine trends that unfold in MDL throughout the season. In other words, just because a team is not included does not mean I think every team on the list is ranked above…

Season 25 of Mountain Dew League is underway, as the season’s first four maps have unfolded over the past few weeks. Last season I tested the waters with some power-rankings early on, and the feedback was great. As such, I plan to continue to create them on a bi-weekly basis throughout this season. Keep in mind that with 24 teams in the division some teams may have been excluded for one reason or another, as I wanted to avoid just simply copying the league’s statistical top five for the sake of variety and discussion.

Every now and then new talent shakes up eSports and gets everyone talking, believer and skeptics alike. Robin “ropz” Kool emerged seemingly out of nowhere, as the 17 year old Estonian began demolishing most of Europe’s best talent in Faceit Pro League. Of course, it was only so long until an organization in desperate need of young blood to agitate their ranks would give him a shot, and mousesports would inevitably fit that criterion given the recent departure of the only player saving their relevance: Nikola “NiKo” Kovač.

Much like when Yassine “Subroza” Taoufik stepped in to the CLG lineup…

On the Subject of Viewbotting:

Not too long ago, viewbotting was all the talk in the livestreaming community, namely on Twitch. Now with eSports and gaming entertainment growing at an exponential rate, people seem to have dropped the conversation and moved on. Whether the community wants to acknowledge it or not it always has been and (probably) always will be an issue. Maybe one day in a utopian future, Twitch will have found a way to solve it once and for all; however, in the meantime the conversation must continue.

To call it unethical might be a bit of an…

The much anticipated fifth season of ESL Pro League is in full swing, let’s take a look at some of the points of interest that developed over last week in the European division.

Heroic has been a team with questionable sustainability, yet brilliant upset potential. They certainly proved the latter to be true as they took down the struggling Swedes of NiP efficiently. …
