Craig’s High Protein High Fiber Smoothie
Many people struggle to get enough nutrients in their diet. My “big two” are protein and fiber, which are lacking in many modern diets. Proteins are made up of chemical ‘building blocks’ called amino acids. Your body uses amino acids to build and repair muscles and bones and to make hormones and enzymes. They can also be used as an energy source. Fiber is crucial for healthy digestion, lowers cholesterol, helps control blood sugar and overall leads to a longer, healthier life.
My simple smoothie recipe is an easy way to get a bunch of nutrients in one package, including lots of protein and fiber. Note that this is NOT a low calorie food so if you’re looking to lose weight, this may not be for you, but with lots of protein and fiber this smoothie can allay your hunger and be a great meal replacement. Each ingredient also has lots of other micronutrients that will ramp up your health and fitness potential.
To make my smoothies I use the Ninja Pro blender, which is easy to clean and mixes everything in 30 seconds, but any blender will do.
