Until Slack, and Teams can position themselves as a full replacement for email clients, you won’t ever get the participation of the business people who are wed to email.

Having “played with” Slack for a small amount of time, I was unable to glean any use from it becuase it was “just one more program everyone has to use in order to be useful”. I’m a member of that (possibly not so) rare group, that wants a single interface for all my communications. The fact that I can’t use my GoToMeeting client to view a Skype presentation should be a problem is frustrating. That my email clients work regardless of server configuration is “the great leveller”. Much like I can use my TMobile phone to call people on the Sprint and AT&T and Verizon networks. If Slack can’t act as my email client, then I’m going to chafe at the pactice of having to use “that one different program” for only a project or two; and as soon as the project is over, I will likely stop using “that one different program”.

Unless, of course, I “didn’t do it right”, which is a possibility as I’m GenX and not as “down with the new tech” as you Millenials.
