What you didn’t mention but which needs saying is that the vast majority of Confederate monuments were actually erected during the period 1895–1915 with a second “boom” in the 1950’s and 1960's.

One could try to argue that these were just marking the 50th and 100th anniversaries of the Civil War, but there’s more to it than that. Much more!
