This is incorrect. “This Land is Your Land” was written in 1940 in response to the then-popular Kate Smith rendition of “God Bless America”. Guthrie did not go to work for BPA until 1941, and among the songs he wrote for them are : “Roll On, Columbia, Roll On”, “Pastures of Plenty”, and “Grand Coulee Dam”.
