What a horrible read and terribly biased with zero actual sources. If there aren’t quotes to back up what people say its likely false.
Why doesn’t the author talk about Pelini’s blowout losses to Wisconsin or the implosion against UCLA ?
Pelini is known as a hot head and that’s what caused bad relationships with referees throughout his career. He openly hates recruiting and created an “us against the fans” mentality as evidenced by his own players posting audio of him holding a players only meeting after being fired where he pointed the finger at everyone but himself.
It’s widely known that Eichorst wanted to fire Pelini but continued to support him and give him the additional staff he requested. Pelini was given what is considered an “extra” season after rumor swirled he was being fired and he took the ship down in a blaze of glory.
I think Mike Riley should be afforded the same luxury of timePelini had to rebuild the program. Pelini may have continually won at least 9 games but has never brought home a conference championship and his quarterbacks were just athletes who could mostly run the ball or chuck it up on a hail mary.
