I’ll be sitting here

A poem written for a set of twins, one of whom is in the hospital with a complicated medical condition. His sister works three jobs to help pay for bills.

Picking up another check

Writing in another job

Saying goodbye to free time

And yet,

The money still doesn’t add up

Driving to the hospital

Greeting the same nurses

Sitting next to the brother that means so much

And yet,

It’s enough

Taking another breath

Saying another prayer

Waiting for progress and smiles

And yet,

We’re together

No matter the work it takes

No matter the stress and weight

No matter the time spent crying

I’ll be sitting here

Don’t worry. For now, I’ll be sitting here.

This post consists of this week’s poem — dedicated to the twins.
