YES YES YESSSSSSS
I was actually thinking exactly this yesterday, so I’m glad you wrote something about it. My front page is all Self-Help for Startups and it just gets so boring after a while. I don’t want advice, I want stories. I want to know about art and communities and something you’re geeking out about and heartbreak and activism and yknow everything else that isn’t Lifehack of the Day. We’ve had Lifehack of the Day articles for OVER TEN YEARS NOW YAWNNNNN. (or something to do with coding. blargh.)
I came across Ev Williams’s post about how Medium is supposedly not a publishing tool but a “network”. The Medium network will let your work be discovered and everyone comments on each other and isn’t it all grand!? Thing is, that only works for a select group of people, and that group largely writes your Triumvirate topics. If I get any attention on my Medium posts it’s largely either from circles I’m already a part of, or it’s other social media that gets redirected to Medium — but it’s not really anything organically within Medium.
