Kimberly Dianne Leach was the last-and youngest- victim of serial killer Ted Bundy.

A shy 12-year-old seventh-grader known as Kim to her friends, Kimberly Leach enjoyed school. She wasn’t the type of girl to skip classes because she did not ever talk to strangers. Plus, earning good grades mattered to her.

On the morning of February 8, 1978, Kim arrived at school excited since she and her mom planned on shopping for a dress she could wear to the upcoming Valentine’s Day Dance after school that afternoon.

Kim hung out with friends in homeroom, discussing possible dress styles she would choose. The girls then headed out to their first-period class, P.E. Realizing she had left her purse in homeroom, Kim turned around and left her group of friends to head back to retrieve it.

Kim made her way across the school campus near her P.E. class although never made it into the classroom. In fact, Kimberly did not attend any of her classes that day. School staff and teachers panicked and began a search for Kimberly. Without any traces of Kim by 5 p.m., school officials notified her parents and the police.
