Embarrassed by his sexual desires for his mom, Gary began to fantasize about killing her before he became known as The Green River Killer

Gary Ridgway became one of the most prolific serial killers in history following the gruesome murders of up to 90 people -mostly sex workers- over a span of 20 years. Ridgway buried his victim’s bodies along the Green River, earning him the nickname “The Green River Killer.” Well before his Washington murder spree, Ridgway had sexual fantasies of his own mother -and violent fantasies of killing her and other people.

Gary Ridgway was the middle child born to Mary and Thomas Ridgway in Salt Lake City, Utah. He had a somewhat troubled childhood. His parents fought occasionally, and his mother was described as a “domineering presence.”

She wore low-cut tops and short skirts, which was uncommon back in the 1970s and 1980s when she brought up Gary. She piled on tons of makeup and looked “glamorous” any time she walked out of the house with her hair primped just so.
