Matrix and the Blockchain Based Smart Hospital Program Pt 1

2020 has had its share of interesting and unfortunate events, the elephant in the room of course would be the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. As the virus continues to spread quickly in many parts of the world, the demand for touchless and contactless services have grown and been have been increasingly recommended. One point of caution many people find them selves at is at hospitals or other healthcare facilities as they are filled with at-risk people or even coronavirus patients. It is perfectly understandable to feel a sense of caution at any place filled with people, especially healthcare facilities in this day in age. This of course has prompted some healthcare centers to launch remote doctor appointments for many people, especially the elderly. Do these contactless practices paint the future of a new normal? Will this inevitably lead to a new era of cost savings and convinced post Covid-19?

“Telehealth apps are getting less attention than other forms of social distancing, but they’re turning out to be doctors’ first line of defense to slow the spread of the coronavirus and focus care and limited supplies to the most urgent cases.” ¹

On Wednesday, Matrix announced a new Smart hospital blockchain program in collaboration with China Telecom and Guangzhou Central Hospital. The newly announced program aims to streamline healthcare for patients and healthcare professionals utilizing the latest in 5G and blockchain technology to achieve a new future in remote healthcare.

Part one of this segment will introduce the partners involved in this project which will be followed with more in depth analyses of the project.

What is Matrix AI Network?

Matrix AI Network is a platform which incorporates blockchain and AI to enable the realization of the Intelligent Blockchain. The use of AI allows innovations such as natural-language smart contracts (Intelligent Contracts), continual network optimization, formal contract security verification, and much more.

Matrix’s technology is currently being used by a plethora top tier entities in a verity of fields such as clinical diagnosis, data analytics, image detection, and structural modeling among many other areas of utilization.

“Established in 1929, the Guangzhou Panyu District Central Hospital has developed into a modern large-scale comprehensive tertiary Grade A hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, rehabilitation, prevention and health care. It is the largest public hospital in the district. The hospital has 1,556 open beds (including 22 in Luopu Branch), with 39 clinical departments and 9 medical technology departments. Among them, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and Oncology are the key specialties of Guangdong Province; the Medical Imaging Department is the key discipline of Guangzhou; Cardiology, pediatrics and laboratory are key specialties at the district level, and respiratory medicine is a specialty at the district level.

The Panyu Central hospital has a large number of advanced medical equipment such as linear accelerators, scientific research CT, and large aperture MRI, with a total value of about 540 million yuan, which provides a reliable guarantee for clinical diagnosis, treatment, emergency critical care and rescue work.”

Due to its state of the art technology and research, the Panyu Central Hospital has been granted numerous national and provincial awards. “It has successfully completed the medical security tasks of the designated hospitals of the 16th Asian Games and the 10th Asian Paralympic Games. The hospital successfully created a national chest pain center in 2017, and passed the evaluation of the national clinical drug trial base, and won the qualification of 7 professional drug clinical trials; the introduction of the national standardized metabolic disease management center (MMC) model, won the “2018 first half MMC “Top Ten Outstanding Centers”; in the list of China’s hospital competitiveness rankings (Elipe Hospital Rankings) series, from 2017 to 2018, it entered the provincial capital city/planned top 100 hospitals for two consecutive years; in 2019 it became a national Member unit of the Alliance for the Prevention and Treatment of Early Digestive Cancer Center”.³

Conclusion

After analyzing the partners in this initiative, it inspires confidence to see that each one has something valuable to contribute to the project. China Telecom’s 5G technology, Guangzhou Central Hospital’s award winning medical expertise, and Matrix’s AI and blockchain backbone will all play a crucial role in this new smart hospital venture.
