That Time I Talked on a Telephone
We take some pretty amazing things for granted.
The other day I was sitting on my couch in California talking to my friend in China. The conversation topic is irrelevant here. What’s relevant is simply the fact that I was talking to her just as if she were sitting right next to me.
I still can’t get over how incredible that is.
I said something and as I said it, she heard it and by the time I finished saying something, she was ready to respond to what I had said. The fact that there wasn’t any lag or distortion in the line just boggles my mind. Yet this technology is something a lot of us take for granted.
Instead of saying, “This is incredible, I’m able to communicate with anyone anywhere in the world!” We get frustrated at even the slightest technological glitches.
I think if instead of taking technology for granted we were a little more thankful and a lot more impressed (because it really is impressive), we’d enjoy our devices more and be happier with what we have (even if they’re not the latest generation or most expensive version).
