I am a night owl as well. I have been all of my life. It has been a pain to have a 7 am to 4 pm job. Waking up at 5 am, traveling for 1 hour to the office … ugh … painful!
10 years ago, things changed. I lost my daytime job, so I had to do something about a new job. But at that age, I’ve decided to try the virtual world, and thus I became a freelancer. To be honest, the main things that drew me to this were: 1. the opportunity of working from home, in my slippers and nightgown and 2. being my own boss, and working by my own schedule (this is one of the reasons why I don’t accept online jobs which are asking me to be in front of my computer from a certain hour to a certain hour).
A couple of years ago, I’ve watched a video where a morning lady was coaching a bunch of night owls on changing their way and becoming morning persons. She started her coaching by saying: “From the cave age, people were waking up with the sun and going to sleep with the sun”. Of course, I have replied to her video asking her: “Who was guarding them while they were sleeping? They would have been eaten by wild animals if we — the night owls — were not around to stay awake during the night.” Yeah, she didn’t like my reply. Oh well…
Later on, whenever I visited a doctor and told them about my night time spent working, they were ALL rolling up their eyes and they ALL kept saying that it is not a healthy life … that our bodies are made to sleep at night and all the bla bla’s.
For a long period of time I thought I am a freak because of my lifestyle. Now I am grateful to see that I am not the only one, thanks God! So, thanks for this article. It proved me — once again — that I am wright … and they — the morning ppl — are wrong!
