Writing Prompt 1
1. Who is coming round the corner?
2. What is their secret?
3. What are they carrying?
A lazy, breeze tumbled leaves across the busy streets of Seattle. The ever present hustle and bustle of people going about their business made it nearly impossible to discern Greg from the mass. Greg, like the other Seattleites, had a distracted look on his face. His mind was miles away from the street that his boots were walking on. His eyes shifted around guilty, almost like he was up to no good.
He rounded the corner of the street, his collar high on his black coat to block the wind and the occasional water drop from dripping down his shirt and his face suddenly lit up. Right where the AD said it would be was a little pop up dog adoption table outside a local store. Inside the kennel, corgi puppies stumbled over each other playing with a few toys sprinkled along the bottom. He had been meaning to surprise his wife for months now but just waiting for the right puppies to come along. Greg conversed for a bit with the kind lady at the table and they struck a deal and filled out paper. With that completed she reached into the kennel and pulled out a floppy-eared blue merle and gave him a good scratch behind his ear before handing him over to Greg.
With a smile, Greg tucked the tiny puppy into his arms before making his way back up the windy street and rounded the corner to head back home to surprise his wife with her birthday present.
