Summer Silks w/ Grana

When you start gravitating toward having less stuff in your life, you tend to start gravitating toward having better stuff as well.

It’s true for everything from food to relationships. And one place in particular that less but better is important, is in our closets.

When you start paring down your wardrobe, you start to appreciate each piece a bit more. You want everything to look good, feel good and to last you. If you’re going to have fewer clothes, you’ll probably want to really love them.

So you start to make decisions based on the quality and construction and, most importantly, the fabric vs. the price or the trend. And natural fibers are really your best bet. They’re better for the environment and, in my humble opinion, they look and feel better on ya bod as well.

Cashmere and wool in the winter, and for summer, cotton, linen and my all time favorite, silk.

You’d be surprised though, how hard it can be to find high-quality fabric out there. Especially if you don’t want it to cost a bajillion dollars. The sad fact is that if you check the label on the majority of clothing in the majority of stores around the country, you’re going to find synthetic fabrics like acrylic and polyester more often than the natural stuff. Sigh.

Somewhere in my snooping around though, I stumbled upon Grana. And I started clapping at my laptop. Such beautiful colors, and natural fabrics and at awesome prices.

My friend in Hong Kong confirmed that they’re as lovely as their website would have you believe. And just as I was deciding between tank tops to buy — to our delightful surprise — one lovely lady who actually works for them, wound up on Crop Tops & Kale! Yay!

So we decided to do a little collaboration.

Bridget and I both lean toward wearing uniforms, mostly in neutrals. But our friends at Grana convinced us to check out their gorgeous spring/summer colors as well, and we were tickled pink over the hues (well, blue and green actually).

So here’s what happens when Bridget and I don a few of our go-to uniforms, meet our friend Blair, and awkwardly take pictures in New York City when it’s 95 degrees outside! Weeee.

Here, Bridget is wearing Grana’s delightful and breathable Pima Box Tee. She’s just really unsure about what to do with her left arm. This tee boasts a more modern, boxy cut and I’m really digging any t-shirts that come with pockets these days.

And me, I’m wearing the lightest and airiest, button down, Silk Sleeveless Shirt a girl could own. It’s been on rotation all summer. I’m also holding Blair’s hat. Because she’s our photographer and she told me to. And I do what Blair says.

Oop. Bridget decided to put her hand on her hip this time. Much more natural. She soon after realized she forgot to take the hair tie off her wrist.

This must have been that moment I realized how tan and naturally highlighted Bridget’s Amalfi Coast trip left her, and it sunk in that I’ve spent most of my summer painting trim and falling off of ladders in Albany, NY. I needed a minute.

We’re also wearing some of the cooler colors of their spring/summer additions. They’re a great combination of super bright and yet subtle at the same time, or something like that. Whatever, I just really like them.

Bridget is wearing the Silk Shell, which I’ve been eyeing in navy since seeing in person. And I’m wearing the Silk Short Sleeve Shirt which I tied up over my ridiculously high-waisted, cropped, thrift store jeans.

We’re talking again. It’s fine. I’m going to the beach next month.

And we just realized that we get to drink some wine soon.

Look how flowy and soft this thing is. I’m obsessed.

Bridget’s definitely the cooler one though, and she knows it. Even if she might have spilled something on her boob?

The face I make when Blair tells me the wine was just a prop. Ummm, yeah no.

Here I’m wearing the Silk Tank and Bridget the Silk Racerback Camisole And since they’re super comfy and cool and well, black (hello darkness, my old friend), I’ll probably be wearing this one the most. Tucked into anything or loose over anything else. It might be the most versatile piece in my closet now. And my most favorite.

Look how cute Bridget is. And how well that cami drapes with a chunky gold necklace.

Basically, this photo sums up how we feel about Grana, and about our new, silk tops, and about natural fibers, and eco-friendly, minimalist style, and about getting to drink wine around 3 pm on a Friday in the sunshine for ‘work’.

Now go say hello to our friends at Grana. They’ve got beautiful, classic pieces, awesome, natural fabrics and lovely, lovely prices. A new favorite of ours for sure.

Cheers.
