This is a quick guide to set up your Ledger Nano S as a NEO wallet. For more information about the Ledger Nano S, read my Beginner’s Guide.
This guide will show you step-by-step how to set up a NEO Wallet on your Ledger Nano S. If you haven’t set up your device for first use yet, make sure to read my Ledger Nano S - setting up a new device guide!
Getting started
The first step is to download the NEO Ledger App to your device:
- Open the Ledger Manager application (What is this?)
- Connect your device to your pc or desktop using the USB cable
- Unlock your device using your PIN code
Once successfully connected to the Led Manager, scroll downwards in the "applications" tab until you find the "Neo" app. Click the green arrow to download the app to your device.
Your device should now show the NEO icon in the menu.
Next you will need to download the NEON Wallet software on your pc or laptop. This is the NEO Wallet software provided by City of Zion.
Download the latest version here: https://neonwallet.com
Logging in to your wallet
First open the NEON Wallet application and click the green "Login using a Ledger" button in the opening menu.
The NEON Wallet application will now try to recognise your device.
Now open the app on your device. It will show the text “Wake Up, NEO…” in your display.
Once your device is successfully recognised the green "Use Ledger Nano S" button will light up.
That's it!
Finding your wallet address
Currently every Ledger Nano S will generate a new NEO wallet!
To use the device as a NEO Wallet you have to send your NEO (and other NEP-5 tokens) from your existing wallet to your new generated wallet.
Every Ledger will generate its own wallet address, to find your public address, click "Receive" in the top menu once you're logged in.
A pop-up will show, displaying the public NEO address of your device. Clicking the "copy" icon next to the address will copy it to your clipboard.
Troubleshooting
The NEON Wallet application can display the following error messages:
USB Failure: No device found
It means that:
- Your device is not connected to your pc or laptop
- Your device is connected, but the PIN is still locked
Make sure that your device is connected and you have successfully unlocked it using your PIN code.
Found USB Ledger Nano S: Hardware Device Error
It means that:
- Your device is connected and PIN unlocked, but the NEO app is not running
Make sure that your started the NEO Ledger app on your device, you should see "Wake Up, NEO…" on its display.
