This morning was the Tron Virtual Machine Launch, it was packed with some great info and insights into what is being done on the project. Really looks great and an official version has been released.

Here is some quick highlights of the session.

The session covered 4 areas as seen below.

Part 1 — Progress

This part was presented by Justin Sun, some stats of Tron Network for the last month was shared, the stats show some really great growth, in comparison to other crypto projects Tron is also doing really great.

Was a recap on all 27 Super Representatives that have been elected.

All Super Representatives that were elected and remained a Tron Super Representative for more than a month will get a Trophy! I already told the wife to make space on the shelf for my trophy 😉

Partnership with Line was concluded.

The Tron community keeps growing and seeing positive growth.

Acquisition of the blockchain.org domain was completed.

Now that the TVM is ready and we have an official release, the launch process will follow the below steps. All nodes will need to be upgraded, as a Tron SR I will be doing some in depth testing and conclude as soon as possible to ensure smooth upgrade on MainNet nodes.

Part 2 — Features of TVM

This section was presented by Technical Lead Marcus Zhao Hong, he discussed how the new TVM also allows for more decentralized governance. Has more than 20 parameters that can be customized. Also 2/3 of the committee will need to approve/vote on changes. Features of TVM will also be activated by the committee. The committee refers to the top 27 Tron SR at the time of approve/vote, this shows more control of the network will be in the hands of the Tron SR’s and each voter should elect/vote for a SR who has the networks interest at heart.

The TVM will be

  • Fully compatible with ETH
  • Innovative Virtual Memory Model
  • Unique resource management model
  • Smart contracts will be 2B instead of 2C

Some great improvements on the database & P2P were also done. A lot of the below is some fancy new toys for me to play with 😉

Then future plans are already in the pipeline. So more to come.

Lucien Chen the CTO also spent a large amount of time discussing how all the different points/parts of Tron technical ecosystem work together. Also different methods that developers can interact with TVM. One slide that says so much.

Part 3— Update on Atlas

Project Atlas will have a dedicated website to track progress and make integration of Tron and BitTorrent more visible to the public.

Project Atlas will aim to build one of the largest networks with faster downloads, more seeds and create a community where data can be consumed.

Part 4— Meet Tron US Team

So this was interesting, it started off by showing San Francisco offices, the team, the different people.

The part I thought was really interesting was the Tron Storage Business Unit and what they are working on. Was really great to hear there is a uTorrent Web Browser available and spanning the platforms to include Windows, Mac, Android and IOS. The Tron Storage Business Unit is the original BitTorrent team that still working hard in advancing this technology. Project Atlas also forms part of this unit.

Some background information on the team.

Some highlights of the new technology improvements, the change to sequential is a big change and allows to stream video while downloading.

These enhancements paves the way for the future for Tron. Will transition to a time where we can consume rather than converting torrents while staying decentralized.

BitTorrent will soon be coming to iOS, beta version will be released.

Web version of uTorrent has been released. The team have noticed

  • 2x on boarding process
  • 5x session duration
  • Better audience retention

Conclusion

The session came to an end, for more detail have a look at the live stream video. Some parts I may have left out, I focused on the real juicy parts. But don’t worry, more will be coming. We will have another update from teh Tron team 30 September.
