Being Fine With Doing Nothing
Mike Dang

Having a kid puts this inner debate in a weird light, because when I’m just hanging out with him, playing or walking around, it feels like I’m doing nothing, but really I am doing something, and it’s important! On New Year’s Eve I had the day off from work and he was in school, and I couldn’t get a handle on how free I felt. I ended up watching a movie (though watching Netflix DVDs does feel productive) and thinking really hard about how I wanted to make bread, and how maybe that could even be a resolution for 2016—start baking bread—and did not actually make bread and then it was time to pick him up already.
