Giftcoin — Enabling a Fully Transparent Donation Process
Today I felt like switching things up a little bit. In the past few days we have learned a lot about tech-heavy projects, so I thought I would look out for some “social-creative” projects.
A lot of people who are not familiar with the blockchain technology probably think that most of its use cases will be found in the tech-heavy and innovative tech-development scene. However, the blockchain technology can be used in a way broader way as we might think. To display a great implementation possibility of the new technology, I present you a fresh project I’ve just stumbled across:
Giftcoin is, as the name already tells, a blockchain based projects that focuses on the ability of managing donations and “gifts” of people to certain organisations. In today’s world, trust is becoming a rarity, either in other people or especially in big organisations. This directly affects NPOs* as the donations are becoming less and less. A reason for this are surely the headlines that pop up once every while accusing high management executives of charity organisations to misuse donation money. Even though a lot of media outlets probably exaggerate in their reporting, the foundation of their message is right: The non-transparency of NPOs is a big red-flag for the general public and possible donators, actively lowering the cashflow the NPOs receive.
As a private donator you want to know where your money is going and how it’s getting used. This would not only allow you to be sure your money finds the right way you would also be able to see the direct impact your donations have made. Being able to track your donations would greatly impact the way how donations would be seen by the public, possibly starting a donation based movement never seen before.
All of this (and more) is hoped to archive through the utilization of Giftcoin, as we will learn more about in tomorrow’s article.
