Giftcoin — The Initial Coin Offering(s)
To conclude this short project review, we will have a look at the token sale of Giftcoin which is already running and the Giftcoin tokens are up for sale. If you haven’t read the previous two articles, please do that before continuing to grasp the whole concept of the project.
To get a quick overview of the project, let’s look at their token sale terms first and which dates might should be marked in our calendars.
Giftcoin is running two individual ICOs, ICO 1 & ICO 2. Their first ICO will start on March 20th, 2018. This ICO aims to raise between 2.5–10 Million USD. These funds will be used to develop a minimal viable product as well starting test integrations into platforms of partnered charity organizations. If their ICO 1 does not reach the 2.5M USD mark, all funds will be returned to the participants.
As they stated in their whitepaper:
This first token offering will be limited to sophisticated and high net-worth investors
Their second ICO will be held in Q4 of 2018 and will be open to the general public. If you do fall under the category mentioned above you can invest in the currently running token sale. If not you will have some more time to look at the project and the progress of the project until the sale opens in about 6 months.
Only 10% of the total token supply will be available for purchase in the first ICO, while a whooping 35% will be available in the second one. 15% of the tokens will be reserved for the team & founders as well as 15% will be held as a buffer for market expansion, research and business development. The remaining 25% will be held as a reserve for the Giftcoin foundation.
My personal thoughts on the project
Overall the project looks very simple yet super useful. The non-transparency of funds raised for charity organizations is indeed a huge problem which is yet open to be solved. If Giftcoin can get it’s foot in the door in the real world, I’m optimistic about the future development of the project.
For the majority of people the second ICO will be important, so you might want to set yourself a reminder for October 2018, as the final product will be rolled out in September this year. With a mere maximum marketcap of 10M USD Giftcoin has the potential to yield great returns.
Personally I will keep a close eye on it and have my reminder set for September 2018!
