Blockchain for Transparency, Proof of Ownership and Rightfully Distributed Copyrights

Transparency was unheard of in the traditional scientific publishing industry

In order to get the big picture of what Orvium is trying to achieve we have to start from the very beginning. By implementing a whole publishing framework, Orvium not only provides researchers a platform on which they can publish their work and claim their own copyright, they can also do this in a transparent and secure way. Providing transparency along the whole research and production cycle of a scientific research product will ensure a fair and honest process of creating high quality scientific research work. From the very first submission to the final, peer reviewed and accepted product — The whole lifecycle of the work will be tracked to the dot and displayed publicly to ensure a high quality standard along the way. Another huge positive attribute of the platform will be the ownership of the copyright which will belong to the respectable author of the individual research work.

Copyrights will be owned by the researchers not the publishers

The person can individually choose certain licencing models which he or she can freely decide for each publication. This individuality of copyright ownership can be used to create fully decentralized journals. These journals can be arranged depending on which category the individual works would fit into, allowing people who are interested in certain topics to receive a bundle full of relevant scientific research work. These journals can furthermore be used as an income-stream for researchers as well as editors, since the journals can be sold and exchanged over the Orvium platform for a small fee which buyers can pay directly through the platform in the form of ORV tokens.

This secure and distributed platform allows every participant to receive what belongs to them in a clear and transparent fashion. All of this while tackling all the major problems in today’s scientific publishing industry. But how does Orvium plan to run their own tokenized ecosystem and what major role does their own token play in this scenario? We’ll find out in the next article of this series!
