A transcript of our live AMA with Gregory.

1.Let’s start off with some personal questions: who are you?

My name is Gregory. I am the project manager of Oculor.

I am responsible for managing the project. I ensure that the team can do its job, that updates are delivered and the goals are realized step by step. Other responsibilities are moderating and other administrative tasks. But above all communication with the community.

The idea of the project was actually created by someone else. In reality, he is the founder of the project.

In the field of business, he is active as a silent partner in almost all companies in which he has an interest. He invests in projects, puts together a team if necessary, and takes care of legal aspects if needed. He then continues to his new venture. For this reason he prefers to stay out of sight.

I was approached by him with the question if I was interested in executing the idea of the project because I had gained quite some experience in the world of crypto. Because of my involvement in a other project, I wanted to decline this in the first instance. After all, it is a no-go to get started within a new project when you are still tied to a other project. It’s mostly one or another.

However, I thought the opportunity and the idea were too good to miss. As an entrepreneur I understand how important it is to seize opportunities and not miss them. A solution therefore was to lead the project ‘anonymously’ until my connection with the other project ends.

2. As the CEO, could you tell us a bit about the first time you personally came across blockchain? And what lessons have you learnt along the way from other projects?

I will answer the question as the ‘CEO’ even though I do not bear that title, but I do have a similar ‘responsibility’.

I first got into contact with crypto in 2017 when my interest in the dark web/dark market was aroused.

In the years before I have heard enough of Bitcoin. As an entrepreneur, I had enough people in my network who talked about it. However, I did not give it full attention.

I needed Bitcoins for the dark web/dark market, to be able to buy. The term crypto grew in my environment and it became more and more connected to a speculative asset with which you could invest and make a profits. From there I started to delve deeper into it and the timing was perfect because the bull market did indeed do what was speculated on.

My love for this market grew and I developed fairly quickly. Through the network I builded I came into contact more and more with ‘key figures’ within this world and I at a certain point I also was active within projects. Especially in the background but in one project I stepped forward seriously.

3. Now let’s talk specifics! What is Oculor and what are you aiming to solve?

Well this question can be easily answered with the information that is already know on our website, Twitter/Telegram bio etc.

‘Oculor is a platform where you can hire people though micro-tasks. Your smartphone plays a key role on the platform. Your smartphone functions as ‘eyes’. Almost everyone has a smartphone with the possibility to make recordings. Why not use it and get paid?’

Oculor connects people who need to have an eye on the world in real time anywhere, to people who make themselves available to offer live streaming video or photographing via their smartphone. This way you can be somewhere without actually going there physically.

In fact, this information is no longer complete and relevant. Oculor has indeed started to implement the idea as above, but in the meantime we have made a change of course.

We have a big announcement that we will most likely share in July. This month promises to be a very big month for the project. To relieve some of the tension, we provide a small reveal that you can think about with regard to what Oculor wants to solve.

Many will have already seen that we have created a slogan:

“Connects Employment and Crypto”

Everything is actually said with this. We will share full details in July ;)

4. Could you tell us more about your team’s background in crypto and how you’re using that knowledge / experience for the better of Oculor?

Firstly, not the entire team is visible on the website. As you know, crypto is often still tied to ‘anonymity’. We respect that and for this reason have not placed a number of team members on the website.

Raj: has been involved in many projects as a marketing manager for many years. He provides ideas and mainly thinks about how we can increase our reach.

Carl: As a graphic designer, Carl has done a lot of work for other crypto projects. We thought it was important to bring someone on board who had a feeling for crypto because it works easily with regard to certain terms used in this world.

Nizam: The same applies to our web developer Nizam. He has already put together crypto websites. We thought it was important that the feeling for this was present.

David: has been involved as a developer in the crypto world for years and was excited to join us when he heard about the project.

Harmanda: has no experience with crypto. But in principle that is not necessary with the task that she performs. She is able to delve into topics well, gather knowledge about them and use them and process them for what they are needed.

The team members who are more visible in the background also have knowledge regarding crypto. They have often worked on crypto-related assignments. It is important to know that in every aspect our team has the qualities to make this project a success. A good team has been put together.

5. The crypto scene is flooded with projects, especially when it comes to P2P micro-economies. So, if we may ask: in a space crowded with competition, why choose Oculor?

In all honesty I have noticed that almost none of those projects have actually delivered a working product. It may be that I missed it, but I really haven’t met them yet. If attempts have been made, they are likely to have failed because no adoption has taken place.

We immediately make a difference by placing the focus so high on the release of a working product. We have thought carefully about how we are going to do this. We find it important to release the product, but we believe adoption is even more important. We want to further build our business on the product that comes out of the project. It is therefore very important that it is used.

A number of ways that we will apply for this:

1. Smartphone: Everyone has a smartphone these days. Our platform works perfectly by smartphone. A step towards adoption is therefore more accessible.

2. OCUL will not be the only currency on the platform that can be used to pay. By sharing the platform with other coins you open the doors for other (large) communities. Mass adoption is even faster with this.

3. Marketing is essential to market the product. We have already spoken to a number of serious and successful people who are certain to be joining the team in the near future. These will appear on the scene as soon as a good foundation has been laid and working products are available. From that point you can then easily approach partners/companies to use the Oculor Platform.

6. What are the biggest challenges you foresee for the project’s success?

Adoption! The actual use of the platform. Developing and releasing is a challenge, but it really is no bigger than getting the product to the point that it is actually being used. This is our greatest challenge.

7. Oculor is a relatively young project and has great ambitions, so it’s fair to say you still have a long road ahead of you. We’re wondering, what does the future hold for the project? Could you share with us a (sneak) preview of your plans?

In question 3 I have already given away a sneak peak. We cannot reveal more than that at the moment. We love when you have something to think about. And by releasing even more we relieve all tension. A little tension is always healthy ;)

8. How are you planning on gaining a userbase and attracting partnerships? What is the added value for both companies and users of using the Oculor platform?

I have the idea that a large part of this question has already been answered in question 5.

In addition, I think that one of the points where we are adding value with the Oculor Platform lies in crypto payments.

Crypto is currently primarily used as a speculative asset. Many people would use their crypto if they could use it in a more accessible way and on a larger scale to pay for products and services. And that is exactly what we want to achieve.

I therefore believe that this ultimately results in a larger clientele from a completely new target group.

Apart from that, there is a ‘trend’ in which the way of working is changing. Oculor is participating in this new ‘change’.

It goes even deeper! I therefore challenge you to read our white paper when we release it!

9. According to your website, you can let someone check the state of your property whilst being away from home. We can imagine those sorts of services are not allowed by local jurisdictions. So, what has Oculor done to make sure all activities are legally compliant?

We will certainly look into it in due course. But I don’t think there is a problem as long as it’s your own property. You are free to film or photograph your own property.

When the product is ready and a ‘new team’ is formed, we will certainly also ensure that we have a lawyer look at it.

10. And lastly, before we hand the conversation over to the community, are there any new exchanges planned?

As you know, we were recently listed on a Crex24 and Nova Exchange. If you look at the roadmap, you will also see that the two exchange listings (Crex and Stex. Nova Exchange was basically an extra surprise) that already happened are stated on it, and that no other exchanges are mentioned.

Of course we intend to come up with more exchanges, but we believe that this must ‘fit in’. It must go hand in hand with the growth of the project.

I can add that we have already spoken to a series of exchanges and that there are already offers available that we only need to respond to when we need them.

We prefer to deliver as a surprise than to promise and not deliver. This is the main reason we did not mentioned more exchanges on the roadmap. We also felt that most attention and money should be spend on the platform first.

New exchanges are guaranteed if the project undergoes the growth that is needed. The community is an important part of this. So we need you to achieve this ;)
