2018 is the year of CryptoPuppies

With the rise of gaming, decentralized applications (Dapp), and blockchain, The Year of the Dog 2018 is the perfect year to launch CryptoPuppies.

CryptoPuppies is a blockchain game. Players collect, breed and compete with CryptoPuppies, which are all unique, thanks to a digital genome that defines how they look and what attributes they have.

Every new technology gets a game that helps bring it careening into the mainstream. Social networks had FarmVille. Mobile phones had Angry Birds. And, its investors hope, blockchain has CryptoKitties.

We’re just scratching the surface (pun intended) of what smart-contracts can do in our world. Breeding, buying, selling, playing blockchain mini-games with virtual puppies is just one of the millions of fun ways we’ve figured out how to use the Ethereum blockchain to create a bit more wealth in the world.

We believe that CryptoKitties opened a lot of opportunities of how blockchain could be used.

The idea of complete ownership of digital assets — being able to trade, send and use them at your whim and with no external control — is a fundamentally revolutionary one.

But we think that game even if it’s on the blockchain should be fun. Because of that, we are planning to introduce off-chain mini-games in which you could interact with you CryptoPuppies in a very wide range of ways.

Solving the problem of increasing population and low demand

There is a limit to the number of times a CryptoPuppy can breed (This limit can be adjusted according to market demand) and recovery period increases the more they mate.

Limit of breeds is currently calculated by this formula:

Limit = Max(2, 14 — Generation * 2).

Where 2 is a minimum number child that each puppy can produce.

So, for example, generation 0 puppy will be able to breed 14 times, while generation 5 puppy will be able to breed only 4 times. This limit may be changed from the smart contract based on the market demand.

Overpopulation problem will be solved by sinking mechanism where you can send 3–5 puppies to the animal shelter and receive new random puppy with a chance of getting much rare trait or higher puppy attribute or getting ETH in return.

Better definition of rarity

There are five kinds of rarity assessments for puppies determined by the average between initial CryptoPuppy attributes (Strength + Agility + Intelligence + Speed) / 4:

Common (0+)
Uncommon (20+)
Rare (35+)
Mythical (50+)
Immortal (75+)
Legendary (90+)
Ancient (100)

This classification is applied to all puppies in the game and is used to identify the rarity of the puppy on its information card.

Also, there is a special classifier that is called Genuine. It’s when a puppy is a purebred (attributes only from one breed).

Regulation of gen0 creation speed

The number of gen0 bots is limited to 15,000 and the speed of their release is also regulated depending on market demand (but not more than 48 per day). This allows the cost of gen0 to be maintained at a certain level.

Gamification

CryptoPuppies will have some interesting gamification elements:

Achievements — each player will get a special badge according to his in-game progress. Most of the achievements and their requirements will be publicly visible, but some of them will be secret. First, 10 players that get such achievements will get a special limited CryptoPuppies that can be received this way)
Game Leaderboards — will be divided into blockchain and off-chain games
Weekly contests with prizes: breeding contest, beauty contest and creative contest
