Speaker: Garth Midgley
Good Evening everyone, I am pleasured to have Representatives from Wonderman Nation to join our AMA today.
Hello @GarthMidgley so nice to have you with us for AMA Session today.
Hi @annie_50 - Thanks for having me, and thanks for having Wonderman Nation! 🙏
Q1. Could you introduce yourselves and tell us about your background?
For the core team, we have over 220 years game development experience, working on over 130 published titles with publishers including Atari, Activision, Ubisoft, EA, Rockstar, Warner Bros and Disney, to name a few
For myself, I've been developing games for 24 years.
I started in 1998, and my first published game was South Park Rally on the N64, PS1, Dreamcast and PC
I've worked as a senior and lead artist at AAA studios and with AAA game publishers, including as lead artist on a Transformers title with Activision and as a lead on a Star Wars title with Lucas Arts
In 2010, I founded GOATi Outsourcing, where we've continued working with AAA publishers, helping them to deliver games like LA Noire, The Darkness 2, Darksiders 2 and Zelda: The Twilight Princess HD, to name a few
And also in 2010, I co-founded GOATi Entertainment, with the view to create games for our vision of a future game eco-system where users are playing globaly, and using digital currencies and digital assets to transfer value frictionlessly.
With GOATi Entertainment, we've already previously built and delivered blockchain game projects including '22 Racing Series' and the blockchain gaming platform called 'Pavillion Hub'
Q2.Please tell the community about Wonderman Nation in detail?
Wonderman Nation is a collection of P2E metaverse games with token and NFT cross play. The first two titles released will be the PvP battler 'Wonderman Nation' (the lead title), and the arcade creature discovery arcade title called 'Wonderman Attacks'
The main game has a PvP battle system which takes place on a planet called Arcadia.
Players will be able to discover creatures from other planets in the metaverse cross-play game and then use those creatures to battle and breed, enabling players to breed new creatures with new abilities, along with locking in on-going revenues through a genomic breeding royalty system, which gives the original discoverer proceeds from in-game rewards and marketplace trades
The battle mechanics are similar to the battle mode in Final Fantasy, but with lots of extra features like environmental interactions, creature team interactions, and unique items that can be used during battles, which change depending on which team you're playing for
The arcade metaverse arcade game brings cross-play to the tokens and NFTs, providing more use cases, and giving players the opporunities for new creature NFT discovery. On top of also being a great game to play outright
We have full genomic breeding on chain, and we use smart NFTs in a way that allows for interesting abilities to be inherited and mutated allows for a really deep game strategy experience
Q3. What do you think is Wonderman Nation advantage over its competitors?
First up, we think that our team's experience with developing both traditional video games + blockchain games gives us a big advantage.
I mentioned our regular game experience above 👆
And on the blockchain game development side, we've built one of the most advanced in-game NFT integrations in a game called '22 Racing Series', where we've already minted and sold over 300k NFTs wtih in-game utility, and we've also built and delivered an advanced blockchain gaming platform called 'Pavillion Hub' - https://app.pavillionhub.com - where we've assisted with the blockchain integration for the games that we've published on the platform
And beyond that, we also think that we have a big advantage over other blockchain games with our advanced accessibility features ...
We think that accessibility is a massive issue with current blockchain games, and we've made them as easy to play as regular games by developing ...
- Easy sign up. Just an e-mail and password required. The same as with regular game platform accounts
*This is already live over at Pavillion Hub
- Wonderman Nation is browser based. So absolutely zero downloads or installs required, and it's accessible on all devices across all platforms
- A live marketplace. NFT creatures are available for all players to use immediately 'with no upfront cost or 3rd party sign ups', meaning that new players don't have to buy creatures, and existing users can easily loan them out and share rewards
- We have onboarding with cryptocurrency and fiat, using credit card and bank deposit, so players don't have to mess around with crypto exchanges if they don't want to
And last but not least, we're using advanced SmartNFT features, which allows us to add features like ...
- Everyone that discovers new creature in the metaverse arcade game and brings it back for breeding, will get a % of revenue for future sales
Q4.Could you please tell us about $WNDR ,its total supply, its features?
Wonderman Nation has a dual token ecosystem
$WNDR (the governance token) - Total supply: 500,000,000
$NKTR (the utility token) - Total supply: 50,000,000,000
Three important features for our ecosystem are:
1) Metaverse cross-play to provide a sustainable cyclical economy
2) Meaningful and complementary use cases across the games in the metaverse - Wonderman Nation, Wonderman Attacks, and Wonderman Social
3) Reward pools dynamically adjusted for sustainable utility token release in line with community growth
Use cases for WNDR:
- Buying creatures
- Buying food NFTs
- Using as fuel for your NFT spaceship to enter the Metaverse play
- Entering tournaments
- Renting creatures from the marketplace
- Staking for NKTR rewards
- DAO voting on NKTR inflation
- DAO voting on future game features and ecosystem partners
Use cases for NKTR:
- Breeding creatures
- Buying spaceship parts
- Entering tournaments
- Renting creatures from the marketplace
So we've developed heaps of use cases for the tokens and NFTs, and we've created the metaverse cross-play both becuase it's fun, and because it helps to balance both the use cases and supply in the dual token economy.
By giving players lots of great and meaningful motivations to spend their tokens and use their NFTs (some NFTs will be eternal, and others can be used and removed from the supply), we create an ecosystem that can be balanced, reliable and fair.
And game development is an ongoing process of development and iteration, so we will likely add even more use cases as development continues.
We have a revamped way of managing token supply - It's a pool based reward system that's dynamically adjusted based on players in the ecosystem, balancing the rewards per battle to keep the outgoing and incoming supply in check.
There are daily pool allocations, which are then broken down into small portions per hour, and even per minute. Winnings are taken out of the pool. This means that if we have a large number of incoming players, they aren’t all taking a 'set amount of reward per play’, which can quickly drain the pool and create an oversupply in the market
Q5.Can you briefly Describe the top milestone you have achieved so far ?
And your future target milestone?
For the milestones that we've achieved so far ...
While the original idea for Wonderman Nation started in 2013, in 2021 we launched our whitepaper, tokenomics, pitch deck, website and cinematic trailer, and then connecting with some amazing investors, advisors and launchpads to get everything ready for our TGE
So 2021 was a big year for us
And for 2022, we're currently working towards our public IDO and IGO's on launchpads and exhanges in the very near future.
We have our staking and initial batch of creature and food NFTs planned for a sale all coming soon - So stay tuned!
And for our development roadmap, in 2022 we have our alpha build in Q2 this year, our beta build (with community access) in Q3 this year, and the release build scheduled for Q4 this year
First question from Twitter
Investors are afraid of scam, exchange is afraid of scam, partners are afraid of scam, so what does Your project guarantee not to scam investors??
Yep, great question @Rubin_hira75
You might have heard it often said before that "you don't invest in a project, you invest in a team"
Our team are fully transparent, we've been operating our game development businesses for 12 years, we have lots of experience developing games, AAA publishers work with us to help them develop their games, and we have already delivered games, and a game platform, with blockchain integration
We have an average of 22 years game dev experience, myself 24 years. We develop games because we love it, and we work with blockchain technology because we believe that it's the future of digital ownership.
We love what we do, and we're not going anywhere! :)
And in addition to this, we have legal agreements with investors, exchanges and launchpads, and we have legal verification of our whitepaper and code audits of our token contracts
Second question from Twitter
I'm Reading #WondermanNation based on Axie Infinity, what improvements have you made to #WondermanNation? What aspects ensure that you don't just copy and get a higher audience?
Yep, we keep the 'intro overview' pretty light in reference to Axie Infinity, just to give everyone a quick impression of our P2E desires, but beyond that - Wonderman Nation uses a dual token economy, and it has PvP battles - And this is where the similarity to Axie Infinity ends ...
Our battle mechanics are similar to the battle mode in Final Fantasy - But with LOTS of extra features that go beyond Final Fantasy, like environmental interactions, creature team interactions, and unique items that can be used during battles, which change depending on which team you're playing for.
And we have full genomic breeding on chain. We use smart NFTs in a way that allows for interesting abilities to be inherited and mutated, which allows for a really deep game strategy experience.
... Amongst other new features - too many to mention, but you'll find out soon enough as more details are released throughout development :)
Third question from Twitter
Are you aware that there are some traditional players who are not crypto oriented but can also contribute to the growth of blockchain games? What plans do the WondermanNation team have for these set of players? Are there plans to also integrate them into the WondermanNation game?
Yep, accessibility is a MASSIVE issue with current blockchain games, and not to mention having a focus on fun gameplay, besides the earning aspect.
This, combined with high barriers to entry for the wider gaming audience, has so far restricted blockchain gaming to a niche audience
We think that the Play-To-Earn space is primed for games that are truly addictive fun to play, are easy to access, and that don’t require large financial investments to started.
By putting a forefront emphasis on creating a truly legitimate and fun to play game that could stand on its own, and then adding a well balance P2E ecosystem that's easily accessible and fair, we think that Wonderman Nation has the opportunity to reach a global gaming audience
All of this, combined with our unique accessibility features will help us to reach a regular gaming audience 😎
Fourth question from Twitter
What killer features #Wonderman has that are ahead of the competition and how does intend to open up the technology to the community and to researchers so it can be continuously improved on ?
Our killer features are to do with cross-play to expand and complement token and NFT use cases + our accessibility ...
We have the main battle game (which you can see in the pitch deck and whitepaper) and we have the arcade metaverse arcade game (which you can read about in the whitepaper)
Creating multiple titles in the ecosystem brings cross-play to the tokens and NFTs, providing more use cases, and giving players the opportunities for new creature NFT discovery.
On top of being great games to play outright of course 👌
Our accessibility features that that anyone can jump in and play quickly.
Account creation only requires an e-mail and password, it's free to play, and it runs in a browser, meaning that it runs on any device, platform and OS
Fifth question from Twitter
How powerful is your team? Many projects begin with a positive impression but are later abandoned. What distinguishes your project from others?
Our team have had extensive careers developing and delivering games.
With over 220 years combined game development experience and over 130 published video game titles already under our belts, we're a team that absolutely delivers the games that we set out to develop
And we’re a team that already have lots of blockchain game development experience. So we have a lot of experience in all areas of delivering games and blockchain games to a high standard
Q1.🅾️ What are the main differences between the two teams wonderman and hometown? Can one team get higher rewards than the other? Also, can a player play a battle selecting creatures from both teams?
There are different pros and cons to each team ...
Team Wonderman get ...
- To take the first move
- To pick their first creature (picked at the start of the match in sequence)
- More advanced (but single purpose) weaponary
- More likely to find ship part NFTs
Hometown team get ...
- To pick their team second - So they get to choose characters that work well against team Wonderman
- Weapons with more use cases, and more environmental interactions
- More likely to find food NFTs, which can be used in battle, or held on to for breeding creatures with different abilities
Q2.Can you list 1-3 killer features of this project that makes it ahead of its competitors? What is the competitive advantage your project has that you feel most confident about?
Three important features for our ecosystem are:
1) Metaverse cross-play to provide a sustainable cyclical economy, with meaningful and complementary use cases across the games in the metaverse - Wonderman Nation, Wonderman Attacks, and Wonderman Social
2) Reward pools dynamically adjusted for sustainable utility token release in line with community growth
3) Advanced accessibility features.
Out of these three, we think that our accessibility will be a huge driver of player growth and retention
Q3.Do investors and token holders have the right to participate in project management? Can they decide on project management? What kind of decision can they vote on the project?
Yes they do.
Holders of the WNDR governance token get to make decisions including:
- Voting on staking rewards
- Voting on upcoming game features
- Voting on new ecosystem projects
Q4.Through new experiences such as mini-games and cross-play in the Wonderman metaverse, additional utility can be added to Arcadians beyond their effectiveness on metas. So, do you plan to add minigames? Does the breeding system already count as a bonus?
Yes, there is more than one game in the metaverse.
I wouldn't call them mini-games, as they're games in their own right.
*The breeding doesn't count as one of these, as that's a part of the main game.
Besides the battle game and the arcade game that we’ve mentioned, we have some really interesting other games planned, as well as a social experience which incorporates NFTs
Q5.Do we have to pay first in order to play the game, if so, then why?
Definitely not 👍
Wonderman Nation has creatures available to use in the 'live marketplace' with no upfront cost, meaning that new players don't have to buy creatures, and existing users can easily loan them out and share rewards.
So you can jump in and play for free, choose your creatures from the staked creatures in the live marketplace, and then if you win, you get your rewards.
This way, there's no upfront cost, and then if you want to buy your own creatures later so that you don't have to share any of your reward with the creature owner, then you can use the money that you earned IN Wonderman Nation to buy the creature - It doesn't have to come out of your own pocket 👌
