Loving Yourself Where You Are
Do you know that feeling that you get when you finally achieved that goal you have worked so long and so hard to achieve? You’ve put so many hours, sweat, and even tears into making it a reality. And you’ve finally arrived. It’s here. Isn’t that a wonderful feeling? That grace that you show yourself once you’ve reached what you have dreamed of for so long.
Why don’t we take THAT feeling, that grace that we show ourselves in the moments of success and achievement and extend it to ourselves right now? In this moment? In every moment? Even though we haven’t reached that goal. Or become who we are longing to become. Even if we are right here, in the middle, striving to get there. God shows us that grace. So why can’t we do that?
We even show our kids that same grace. When they’re learning to play a sport, or an instrument, or even how to ride a bike. Aren’t you there, cheering them on? Rooting for them? Or let’s say you don’t have kids. Do you root for the success of a friend, loved one, family member, spouse when they set a goal and they’re working so hard towards it? When they feel like giving up, do you cheer them on? Yes? I thought so.
So take that same grace, and extend it to who you are right in this very moment. You are doing it! You’re better than you once were! You’re growing into someone beautiful! You’re stronger today than you were a year, a month, a week ago! Look how far you have come! You need to see that who you are RIGHT NOW is awesome!
Show yourself some grace and love today. No more “But I’m not this. But I still struggle with that.”
Exactly who you are TODAY, flaws and all is worth showing yourself that grace.
