This is the best essay I’ve read on this subject. It should be required reading for every young person.

I grew up in the ‘60s. Yes, there was a lot of talk about sexual freedom, but repressive attitudes were most common. I honestly thought there was a social rule that forbade talking to your date — or your significant other — about getting intimate. It was all supposed to be done by action and reaction. No words allowed.

I’m glad I got over that.
