Vin and Torgell rushed to Maggie. She was reeling on ashen leaves going through a searing pain in her shoulders. A small wound is visible where cloths are torn and some scratches on her left arm.

“Looks like nothing serious,” Torgell brushed quickly and averted his eyes to the surroundings.

“Your arms…, can they move?” Vin’s troubled look cast about Maggie.

Her pupils dilated covering most of her eyes. A realisation swept her off with an unprecedent feeling. “N-n-n…” she went on. Tears broke her stuttering as a morning dew to a nightmarish revelation of loosing a limb. As she tried to move her arm a sharp pain shot and Maggie screamed out loud, her eyes red as hellish fire, her cheeks covered in tears.

While Torgell snuck off to explore their gains, Vin took out a phial from his backpack and put it aside prepared to use it. He remembered Father Elijah’s present, a single healing liquid that would do wonders if used correctly.

“It is okay, you live. I am checking arm, good?” Vin without waiting the consent already started to check her left arm asking more questions if she feels something, anything at all, as his fingers kept searching for signs. Maggie hissed and cried out when Vin was close to the visible wound on her left shoulders and arm. It was swollen and looked a bit different than the right shoulder. Vin raised his brow, “shoulder sprang and lost location,” he gently continued in a soothing voice. “Torgell, come help!” He commanded. Reluctantly the merchant’s boy returned and pondered what can he do. “Hold right shoulder, keep her steady, she will hurt,” he replied with authority. As soon as Vin gathered courage he suddenly twisted and pushed her arm. Maggie screamed until her voice hoarsened. Vin quickly gave her the potion gently pouring it down her throat. In a couple of seconds she stopped thrashing and lost her conscience.

“You killed her, you bastard!” Torgell jumped up holding his hands in the air. “To hells with this, I am leaving,” he panics.

Vin snuffled at Torgell and averted his eyes to Maggie. He gently smiled at the knowledge.

A few minutes passed. Vin still there sitting beside Maggie, waiting for her. Torgell has gathered his share and prepared to ride off.

“What happened? Maggie barely opened her eyes confused.

“He is preparing forth and saddled your horse, Maggie. The scent attracts beasts and monsters. Torgell is smart. Here, drink what is left and rest a bit. I help him and return shortly.” Maggie nodded and lied there pushing herself against a tree trunk.

“Why?” Torgell barked at Vin as the distance was proper enough.

“Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. He will have mercy on them,” he quietly replied as if pronounced these words many a times in his life.

“We are even,” Torgell continues, “I saved you while you didn’t even share with me what is that you are doing to her. Seeing how you killed those three bandits, I’d say you are cold blooded.”

“One is alive. What say you?” Vin asked yondering at a body lying not far.

“Take him to Road City, what else? We can turn him in to Strong Arms and maybe get a reward of some sort.”

“The journey long, many dangers may be. Prisoner will eat, keep guard is must. Many problems, I think.”

“I knew it, You are heartless. What would happen to this man if we leave him behind? Animals or monsters would attack him, or he can continue robbing respectable and good people like us. It is our duty as citizens to turn the bad guy in. Doesn’t your God say something like this?” Torgell argued with Vin already at a voice which Maggie overheard.

Maggie stood up leaning with her right arm onto the tree. Vin tilted his head observing what might happen. Torgell in a sense was correct, the teachings of One does imply to help others when traversing the wilderness and aid those who need it. As soon as Torgell verbalised the situation in such a manner, the duties of clerk are invoked. Vin helplessly looked at Maggie for a judgement as aporia took over the youngling.
