It seems like everyone in the comments got a different impression from the article than me. My understanding is that the author worries about is that kids will practice the shots the Warriors take without practicing what actually makes them successful such as passing, ball movement, ball handling, and defense. And from what I saw growing up playing basketball its a valid concern. I think the unwillingness of kids to practice the small things is the main reason people plateau. Obviously no amount of practice can turn the average person into Lebron James but anyone who has played pick up ball has seen someone who shoots threes and does literally nothing else, or is super athletic but couldn’t hit a left handed lay up if their life depended on it.
