I tried Elm, but I don’t get the hype around it.

Without a doubt, Elm is not perfect. But imagine a similar article about Javascript:

I wrote some Javascript code and found that [1, 2, 3] == [1, 2, 3] is FALSE. Can you believe it? Another thing is that Arrays aren’t contiguous. WTF? That’s not an array.

Then I read an article called Javascript: The Bad Parts and wow it’s not just me. I just cannot drink the Javascript Kool-aid.

Anyone who knows Javascript would want to talk to the person who wrote this fictional article and tell them that “they’re right Javascript isn’t perfect, but don’t let a first-blush with the language color your opinion. Wait. Learn more. And then judge it fairly, once you’ve built something of substance.”

I hope you will reserve judgement until you’ve had more time to fully experience the language. I think you would benefit greatly even if you decide later to reject it.
