The Wonderful Visual Adventures of Csekkï

Who am I?

I’m István Csekk (a.k.a Csekkï — [Check•ee]) currently living in Budapest, Hungary. Simply put, I am a soul with some sensitivity for visuality. Creating art makes me satisfied, gives emphasis to my life. My main aspiration is to increase the culture of visual design, to reach out to all kinds of people through the language of visual communication and to share my positive vibes.

I love travelling, taking photos and making magic. I feel responsible for making people around me smile.

“What’s in there?
Only what you take with you…”

My very first inspirations coming from movies that I saw in my childhood. I was mesmerized by “magic in the movies”. (Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Toy Story, Edward Scissorhands, Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Blade Runner, etc…).

As a teenager I was massivly influenced by conteptoary artist like Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Ai Weiwei, Roy Lichtenstein, Banksy, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Marina Abramović and of course Dalí.

The College of Arts and Visual Communications where I attend how to use different technics like drawing, painting, photography, video editing, animation, computer graphic design. At the Moholy-Nagy University of Art, I learned how to think out of the box, it opened my mind to unique ideas and then real-life taught me how to use my abilities as a designer, creator, animator, art director or whoever.

What do I do?

Most of the time I use 2D animation, graphic design, collage art, photography or photo editing for that effect or simply just make basic 3D compositions to express all the creativity more freely in my work.

I have outstanding knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite software usage like Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Lightroom and Premiere. Recently I started to use and learn Cinema 4D. Affinity Photo and Procreate apps are always a good help to draft my ideas but I also do quick hand sketches.

I Wuff You!

I have been working as an Art Director for 8 years for advertising agencies like Mito, Cluso, Leo Burnet, Publicis. During these years I learnt how to form ideas into understandable creative concepts through effective team working process and were able to take projects to final creation with the highest possible details.

Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?

I am continuously developing my personal iconography to create a narrative for the pictures by using symbols that can be understandable for everyone. I am playing around sometimes with cliches and pop culture references on my images but there is always a complex structure of symbols behind them. Frequently I match my creations with quotes for a more specific outcome.

Adventure is out there!

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us…”

“Nowhere to go but up…”

34 years with this wonderful opportunity that I can do what I love, what always pushes me further. I truly believe in the good and healing art.

My goals are to make more reasonable artwork, to direct short movies, to make a solo exhibition, to make exquisite music videos, to create meaningful campaigns and to learn new ways to express myself.

Me, while changing the world.

So much to do! The trick is to never stop doing it and be grateful as much as you can. I always explore so I can adapt my stories for some kind of art, then I share them because this is what creators do.

If you would like to come with me on this journey or just enjoy my visual work on your screens or on your wall, reach me out.
