Where to Find Me in Fall 2018
Another conference season is upon us. And as usual, I’m traveling around, talking to people about Apache Kafka, data integration and event driven architectures.
If I’m in your city and you want to chat, feel free to contact me by Twitter (@gwenshap). I always enjoy meeting people when I travel.

Sept 11–13 — Strata NYC. I’m giving a talk about “Future of ETL” and may also assist with Tim Berglund tutorial on Kafka and KSQL.
Sept 18 — Kong Summit. I’m on a panel (which I pretty much never do) to discuss Serverless compute and its architecture implications.
Sept 20 — Papers We Love SF. I still need to pick a good paper! Panic!
Sept 25 — Google Cloud On-Air. Where I’ll give some pointers on how to get started with Apache Kafka on GCP.
Sept 26–28 — Strange Loop, St Louis. Where I’ll describe Kafka’s consumer protocol in ridiculous detail.
Oct 4 — Apache Kafka London Meetup, in the new Confluent office in London. I’ll talk about the various sizing problems people face when running Kafka — from number of clusters to number of threads.
Oct 9 — Confluent Streaming Event in Munich. I’ll share my view of the future of streaming platforms.
Oct 11 — Confluent Streaming Event in Paris. I’ll share my view of the future of streaming platforms.
Oct 15–17 — Kafka Summit SF. Best event of the year, clearly. Matthias and I will talk about scaling stream processing applications on Kubernetes. Feel free to ping me for a discount code.
Oct 30 — Serverless Days NYC. I’ll talk about the challenges of handling data in serverless architectures, and what we can do about it.
Nov 8–9 — QCon SF. Where I’ll lead a hands-on workshop where we’ll build a small event-driven architecture from scratch while learning important stream processing design patterns.
Nov 15–16 — Scale By The Bay. Matthias and I will talk about scaling stream processing applications on Kubernetes.
See you around!
