Learn to overcome your struggle
I used to think I was the only one with struggles, until I started paying attention to what was really happening around me and realized that, EVERYONE has something they are struggling with. This included my parents who I held up as my invincible super heroes to my favorite little cousin being bullied in school.
I’m sure at some point in your life; you too have had to struggle with something it could be something to do with your Health, your finance, your relationships, your career, or your education. If you’re struggling right now, you’re not alone; I can assure you that they’re a lot of people around the world with the exact same struggles as you. Struggles don’t discriminate, it does not matter what race, nationality, or religion you’re part of. Struggles are part of life, some we can avoid and some we can’t. But we can overcome our struggle, other people have done it before and so can we. So what are some ways we can get over some of our struggles?
Start by accepting and being aware of it. It is human nature to try and avoid what is currently bothering us and pretend we are doing okay. You might be having problems in your relationship and yet you pretend everything is fine. Or you may have academic challenges and you might need some extra help, yet you pretend you are doing just fine. Doing this is toxic and will only make your problems worse. It is important to accept what is, both in terms of the external reality and your internal reality. Accept that you have a problem and then find the source of it. The sooner you can do this the faster you can start addressing it.
When you’re aware of your problem, you can ask for help if you can’t deal with it on your own. Granted not everyone is willing to help you, but they are people who care about you who can offer their help to you if you just asked.
If you decide to go at alone though, it won’t be easy. You need to have or develop a Positive attitude. Learn to be positive and to look forward. After all, how can we overcome a negative situation if we think our future will be negative? Unfortunately our brain has a natural inclination to focus on threats and dangers, even perceived ones we create. A positive attitude will give you that inspiration you need to move forward. Moving forward is an important key in overcoming your struggles.
Once you have developed your positive attitude, find that inspiration in your life. Find or look for the good tools that can give you the power to move forward. This could range from things you can buy like books to things already in your life like your children. Find that something that inspires you and will give you the will to fight for one more day, and then use it every day.
It would now be a good time to start avoiding or reduce the time you spend with negative people. You really won’t get far if every little progress you make is shot down by someone else. So do yourself a favor and avoid the negative opinions coming from the negative people in your life.
“When in doubt, work out.’- Unknown
Start working out. Moving your body has been shown to improve your habits in your life that will improve your overall self-confidence. So for at least three days a week, do some sort of exercise. It will also give you the energy to overcome the life challenges you might be facing. When we just sit and don’t move, we hold on to the negative emotions that come with struggling and therefore we won’t have any positive energy to fight it.
To get your mind off the negativity around us, start and end your day with gratitude intentionally. This will constantly remind you how beautiful life is and make us not focus on the negative. Even if you’re going through a bad period there is always some good in your life and learning to be grateful for something even the small things will make us see that. Look for 3 new things you’re grateful for everyday and write it down or share it with someone. I prefer to share it.
Then start taking action on changing your situation. Constantly thinking about our problems and struggles won’t make us change them. I really wish it could because I would have no struggles right now, but it doesn’t. Only action will change it and I know that, we all know it. Hard as it may be, there is no other main way we can overcome our struggle than taking steps to do so. So start by taking small steps, do something small everyday even just one thing to change your situation and soon all these small actions will pile up and form something massive and life changing. You have to do the work if you want to get out of the pain.
In addition to all that other things that can help us overcome the struggle include; learning to make yourself laugh, helping others with their struggles , changing our perception of things, celebrating the wins you have had before, learning to be mindful and just breathe, standing tall and much much more.
I would like to hear what you do that has worked that has helped you overcome your life struggles. And if you have any struggles share them and maybe I can help you with that. Share them in the comment section below or send me an email at cshikati@gmail.com.
