Who is Casey Robinson?

So today, as I write this I’m currently in week 6 out of 12 at the Iron Yard Academy in Charleston SC learning the power of Ruby on Rails.

So who I am, and how did I end up here at this moment? I hail from what I believe is the greatest state in the US, Nebraska. For those who are ignorant, Nebraska is more then flat land and cornfields. A lot of who I am as a person I give credit to being raised by parents born and raised in Nebraska as well. The culture of hard work and respect for the person next to you has been something that has stuck with me all my life.

So your from Nebraska raised in a town no larger then 50 people, how did you end up in Charleston SC learning to write code?

Well if you care to know, It finally took me almost 10 years from dropping out of college (Political Science Major) and moving to California, bouncing around sales jobs with Verizon Wireless and Monster.com (Job Board) to find a my true love. I made good money but I absolutely hated what I did. I wasn’t passionate about trying to sell someone a phone and a HR Manager a job posting.

Moment I found love

I started playing around with HTML/CSS about year ago and had a wtf! moment. After 8 straight hours of punching some weird ass commands inside of this thing called a text editor, I was hooked for life! I realized the power of that I had at my finger tips and realized it was just the beginning. I started reading books, blogs, and anything I could get my hands on. I started using CodeAcademy and Udemy. I learned a lot but it was only scratching the surface. I told myself if I wanted to do this and be great, I needed to take this full time. Thats when I joined The Iron Yard Academy.
