Unleash your inner goddess

For the month of February, I decided to do a natural hair challenge with my friend. The challenge was not to add weaves to our hair. I immediately agreed. In January I was changing my hair every week, literally. I had a top knot bun, 26 inch sew in, 18in blonde hair that turned into a long ponytail. I wanted and needed to give my hair a break. That lasted for about 2 weeks. So I decided to do a protective style to ‘sort of’ stay in the challenge. One day I was on youtube.com and I stumbled across a video on faux goddess locs, also known as faux dread locks. I was intrigued and fascinated with this look so I stayed up all night watched different Youtubers on they achieved the look themselves. I’ve heard that people charged clients over $300 to do them. I refused to pay that much, especially when I change my hair ever so often. I decided I was going to do themselves. I picked a weekend that I know I didn’t have any plans and was a long break from school. My favorite person who I wanted to mimic was Jewellianna Palencia, I followed all her instructions and got the same products. The process was soooo long and tedious, I am a tall person who loves long hair and needed my faux goddess locs to be long. It took almost 3 days for me to complete the look. I first had to prepare my hair for the locs to maintain the health and to preserve my hair. My hands felt like they had arthritis and were in pain. When I was finished I was so happy that I have a care free and cool looking hairstyle that I will keep in for many weeks. My friends challenged me to keep them in for a month, they think I will fail. I love to prove people wrong. Let’s see how this goes.
