OK, let’s all say it again:
“Diversity” as end unto itself is NOT a good thing.

“Diversity” should NEVER be a metric by which a company (or anything, really) is judged. The only relevant metric is “Does it get the job done.” The only relevant metric in hiring is “Are they the best person for the job.” Period. When you begin measuring the worth of anything by how “diverse” it is, you devalue the ACTUAL contributions of those involved. If a company is one hundred percent lily white, but does the job well, then guess what? There is NOT A PROBLEM. It’s a bit tired, but nobody goes after the NBA because they don’t employ enough short, white, chubby dudes. Because they would NOT BE THE BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB. That should apply everywhere, without exception.
